What is Team Coaching?

Team coaching goes beyond team building — it’s about helping teams work better together. Using systems thinking and research-based approaches to team dynamics, coaches partner with teams, leaders, and stakeholders to identify unproductive patterns, improve relationships, and align around shared goals. By understanding a team’s unique context and priorities, team coaching strengthens trust, psychological safety, communication, and collaboration — ultimately enhancing the team’s ability to achieve meaningful and sustained results.

What Does a Team Coach Do?

A team coach partners with the team to enhance its dynamics and relationships, helping members maximize their potential, achieve shared goals, and improve overall outcomes.

Our Approach

One size doesn’t fit all. That’s why we offer three flexible ways to support your teams, based on what will be most meaningful and effective for your goals:

  • Team Effectiveness Coaching
For intact teams looking to strengthen collaboration, decision making and outcomes.
  • Programmatic Group Coaching
In leadership programs, a team coach guides small groups to apply learning and deepen practice.
  • Individual Coaching in a Group Setting
Supporting individuals on personal goals within a group, fostering insight, reflection, and peer learning.

Foundational Practice: Reading the Room

Every team tells a story — not just through what’s said, but how it’s said and who gets heard.
Reading the room means tuning in to those subtle dynamics so coaches can help teams build awareness, foster connection, and generate momentum. As a participant in the GroupWorks Team Coaching Program, you’ll explore essential learning areas designed to help you read the room effectively, support teams in reaching their goals, and achieve meaningful outcomes.
